This blog is about things that kick ass, war and its many guises
do not kick ass, but through-out history people have had to resort to (under very extreme conditions) violence. The reasons for Japan to challenge the USA were primarily the oil embargo placed on them as a result of their aggressive expansionism of the time. And perhaps with our Allies busy holding off the Axis powers they thought it was the best time to challenge the USA's domains in the Pacific. Regardless as Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto has been credited with saying
,
" I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." .....
aaaaa....YEP!
and we brought the heat...
but it seems they had their own take too...
This could not have been an easy decision...
I don't want to make too much of this, but the obeisance is revolting, our commander in chief should be above such things, regardless of custom.
